Picker commissioned by The Health Foundation to undertake an evaluation of impact of Q.

Picker is delighted to be leading a two-year evaluation of Q, a community led by the Health Foundation that spans individuals from health, care, and lived experience backgrounds across the UK and Ireland.

The independent evaluation team, led by Picker and supported by ResPeo and Healthcare Priority Solutions, will help Q to understand its overall impact on members, its improvement work, and ways that Q may increase impact in the future in order to improve health and care.

Key evaluation questions for the Picker team include:

  • What is Q’s impact at the individual, organisational, and system level?
  • What factors create this impact, and how do they interact?
  • How can the impact of Q be increased beyond 2025?

The evaluation team will use a combination of qualitative (eg interviews, workshops and desk research) and quantitative methods (eg surveys) to collect data. This will include two major online surveys with Q members and stakeholders at different timepoints.

Matthew Hill, Head of Insight, Research, and Evaluation at Q, said:

“I’m delighted to have commissioned such a strong Picker-led team to evaluate Q over the next couple of years. Their exciting approach will provide high quality and precise evidence of Q’s impact and be instrumental in informing Q’s development beyond 2025.”

Amy Tallett, Head of Research at Picker, said:

“We are excited to lead the independent evaluation of Q. Picker pride ourselves on our track record of using people’s experiences of care to measure, understand, and improve the quality of person centredness and to identify priorities in the design and delivery of care of health and social care. We are delighted to be able to apply our expertise by working with Q and its members, and in close collaboration with our partners at ResPeo and Healthcare Priority Solutions.”
