2026 Urgent and Emergency Care Survey

The 2026 Urgent and Emergency Care Survey (UEC26) is coordinated at a national level by the Survey Coordination Centre (SCC) at Picker, as part of the NHS Patient Survey Programme (NPSP), on behalf of the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

We would like to recruit a small selection of frontline staff across England to join a 90-minute focus group discussion on urgent and emergency care. Feedback from these discussions will help us to develop the 2026 Urgent and Emergency Care questionnaire.

Key information:

  • The focus group will be conducted virtually via MS Teams.
  • The focus group discussion will last up to 90 minutes.
  • The focus group discussion will be led by a researcher from the SCC team.

Who can take part?

We are looking for a diverse team of professionals across various roles in Type 1 and Type 3 departments, including emergency department nurses, doctors and consultants, healthcare assistants, paramedics, and other allied health professionals. They will be asked to complete a simple screening survey to ensure a representative sample.

How can frontline staff take part?

Frontline staff can email us at volunteer@surveycoordination.com stating ‘Frontline staff urgent and emergency care focus group 2025’’ in their email. Alternatively, they can call us at 01865 208127.

When will the focus group take place?

The focus group discussion will be conducted in the next few weeks, but ideally before 15th October 2025.
